3 Amazing Benefits of Aerial Yoga

Hello, Everyone...and welcome to our first Blog post!

I thought I'd start out with something I believe everyone has secretly wanted to try, but may be a little timid about taking the leap...Aerial Yoga.

We've all heard the many tried and true benefits of yoga on our bodies and even our pyches in general, and maybe you've even heard about the benefits of inversions in particular...our circulatory, endocrine, and digestive systems are all stimulated and refreshed by simply standing on our heads. But anyone who has tried a head stand knows there is nothing "simple' about it! A safely executed head stand requires an abundant amount of core and upper body strength that many of us don't possess.

That's where the aerial hammock comes in...it becomes another amazing use of a prop that can suspend you a mere 3 feet from the ground allowing you to experience your body in space in ways you can't imagine. In addition to gaining flexibility and sculpting muscles, hanging upside down in a hammock will allow you to accomplish a completely safe, zero-compression inversion. That means you can relax as your spine lengthens without any unnecessary compression on the delicate vertebrae in your neck, disks can be hydrated and once you get your feet back on the ground, you will feel a rush of exhilaration that will have you asking for more.

So here are my top 3 favoriite things about Aerial Yoga and why I think you should give it a go:

1. Anyone can do it. Outside of a few contraindications, the hammock lends itself to being easily adaptable to your individual needs, including Restorative Yoga postures. In fact, I recently had a family with participants ranging from 15 years old to 70 years old. The youngest a high school athlete, the oldest only participated in a walking regimen a few days a week. Plus, your class will be a blend of yoga, Pilates, dance, calisthenics, and gymnastics. Many people who "arent into yoga" love their Aerial class.

2. Full body workout. Don't be fooled by the fact that you're hanging...every muscle is typically called into action here, so you can't cheat with this. And I personally love that it shows where you may be weakand can help you self correct when you see that you are floating off to one side. Body awareness is transformative and

developing new body skills is empowering!

3. Beautiful skin, smarter you, and feeling like Zen! Maybe this technically makes it 5 things, but...reactivating and refreshing the blood flow to your circulatory, digestive, and respiratory systems, you are relieving physical stress, boosting your mental abilities, and nourishing your skin. It also strenghtens neural connections in your brain related to memory, intelligence, and creativity.

So, are you ready to turn your world on its head?
